[02/10] newbieA soars into the Top 5. Newsimportant: sabotour problems... A player calling himself SimdromeDiDal ([email protected]) was intelligent enough to report 26 or so false games, involving some players he chose as targets. Affected players:juninho 1999 13ismitch Antti skull13 Notice that these players didn't choose to be a part of this and that even if the saboteur may be one among them, most are very decent players and haven't deserved this treatment. All this said, if a player is on that list - don't play a ladder game with him/her until they are removed form the list. I will update this list and remove all players whos ratings I have reverted back to the correct values by lowering them. I'm very sad to see this stuff happening and don't really understand why a person wants to destroy for others in such a way. If you have any questions or know who he is, please contact me at: spam at eyerouge dot com. Keep in mind that a ladder can't work if we have people running around taking a heavy shit on it. I will of course also start planning on coding in some kind of protection against these type of attacks. I apologize for any inconvenience this may cause - please be understanding and help out. * Edit 1: I have now located the error. It turned out it was no error at all, but a thing I forgot to configure correctly in the deletion of games-process. It's effect is the one i described in the above, giving more points back to the players than they lost in the false report. The configuration is now okey, so this can't happen again. =) I'll proceed with fixing the player ratings... Edit 2: I currently believe the damage can't be fixed by me alone: I need to know the more correct ratings of the affected players in order to set them accordingly. At least one good thing came out of all this - I found a problem with the previous setup of the Ladder and fixed it before a real disaster occurred... = / Edit 3: Actually, it just proved to be an error and not a misconfiguraton at all: The original code was very wicked and I had no idea the author used such a way to delete games and give back points. Surprising that nobody has noticed this as the ladder system is ued on several large sites...all which must have plenty of errors in them. In his method he simply recalculated the elo and then tried to use the result to know how much to lower/raise the players. That way to solve it seems flawed as it will give or take too much, resulting in players having the wrong Elo after a false game has been deleted, where they were involved. I've now re-written the way this is done and it should work correctly, making it impossible to frakk up the ratings. I don't use any calculations at all to determine how much you should regain or lose: Instead I simply take the amount you got/lost and give it back/take it away. Other news articles:
